Default S&W 43C .22 LR J-frame revolver

This is the 1st range test of the S&W 43c AirLite J-frame .22 LR revolver. This is a slick little revolver. It only weighs 11.5 oz. You don't even know it's on you when you drop into a pocket holster. I use the same DeSantis pocket holster for it as I do the 642 .38 Special. The front sight is an XS big dot white front sight, and it jumps out at you when you bring up the gun to eye level. It has an 8-round capacity. It is double action only. I made the mistake of shooting it after I shot the .357 with some fairly hefty recoiling loads. This little gun has a heavy double action pull. It's pretty smooth though and allows you to stage it just before the internal hammer drops. The next time I shoot it, it will be the only gun I take with me. After shooting 30 rounds of .357, I was having a difficult time pulling the trigger through. My groups are nothing to brag about, but I didn't really expect them to be. This is a belly gun, after all. I shot 16 rounds on each silhouette target using Aguila SuperMaximum 30 gr, Winchester Super X 40 gr and CCI Minimag 40 gr. I had one light primer strike on each one of the loads out of 16 rounds. In general, I'm pretty pleased with it. I didn't clean and lube it before I took it out. I'm hoping it will do better next time. See my crummy targets.

That's crummy?
They would be rifle targets for me!

Good shooting!

Thanks guys, but you realize those groups were shot at only 7 yards, right?

Rman, 7 yards is more than enough. At most self defense situations will happen much closer such as a Walmart parking lot between cars ie like when you're getting into your vehicle or at your door and the perp is maybe at the rear tail light area or closer. Heck our own Kalispell PD practices at 3 and 6 yards.

Well done for sure... makes me think about getting one.

Thanks! You're right J_B. That's why they sometimes call these things belly guns. I do try to shoot some at 10, 15, and 20 yards, but most of my practice is at 5-7 yards. Those aren't the greatest groups, but with a little practice, it will get better. I'm not a big proponent of the .22 LR for self-defense, but the #1 rule of a gun fight is to always have a gun. In the hands of a calm, good shot, they can get the job done. I've worked a lot of autopsies and back in those days at least, most of the victims were shot with .22s.

Targets look good, especially when you are getting acclimated to a new DA trigger.
