I've had fried rattler and barbequed rattler. Actually tasted pretty good.
I'm with the group that doesn't have much use for snakes. Perhaps because we have so many of them at the lake. I have to say though that when we lived between Muskogee and Wagoner there was a bigger concentration of "nasties". When we built our house we probably killed fifteen rattlesnakes the first summer. I guess I should say I killed them because Bonnie understandably preferred to perfect her techniques in the kitchen. The next year a couple of copperheads. I never got comfortable with the cottonmouths around so I missed fishing in the sloughs of the Arkansas. I'm pretty sure the rattlesnake in the furnace room followed a mouse in there from outside but my solution was to keep both out of the house. |

Spent some time wandering around in the woods at the farm this afternoon. Lot's of snow, showing deer, rabbit turkey & coyote tracks. Several squirrles were running around. I think I'll go back in the morning & do a little rabbit hunting. It's a nice, peacful place to hang out.

I love to ramble through the woods when there's snow on, or along the creek in the bottom land after a rain. You can find all kind of wildlife tracks. It will tell you what kind of wildlife you have in the area. Nature is a good friend if you will just observe it. I could not be happy living where I wasn't close to Nature and Wildlife.

Here is where I go to get away. Even without the snow it's peaceful & quiet.

Looks like a great place to relax, get some exercise and see what's been out and about. I have several hundred acres of Corp of Engineers land behind my place and I spend as much time there as I can. There are a few deer, fox, turkey, bobcats, coyotes, and lots of squirrels. Not many rabbits any more though - too many predators.

I've hunted deer, squirrels and crows back there. I don't hunt much any more though.

It don't take much movin around to hunt coyotes. Just tie a rabbit to a tree & wait. All you have to do to catch that rabbit is hide in the woods & make a sound like a carrot, then grab ol' buggs when he gets close enough.
