Trevor's Range Report
My gradson, Trevor shot an air rifle for the first time last Sunday. It was chilly and windy outside, so we decided to shoot in the basement. The range was 5 yards. The air rifle is a new Crosman 1077 CO2 pellet rifle. We had another one of these around here, but since Tristan left us, we have never been able to find it. They are nice, reliable little rifles and reasonably accurate. It takes a 12g CO2 cartridge and has a magazine that holds a 12 round rotary clip. I bought 3 extra clips, so the shooting sessions could last a little longer without reloading clips. It looks like the CO2 cylinders are good for about 48 rounds before losing power. The trigger is atrocious. It must have about a 14 lb pull, has around a half inch of pull, has hitches and creep and a healthy over travel. In spite of it all, I think he shot it well, especially for his first time. I preached gun and range safety to him and he did a good job of following instructions.
I did some searching and found a guy who makes replacement triggers that allegedly cut way down on all the undesirable characteristics of the stock trigger. His trigger has good reviews. I ordered one and it should be here Monday. Hopefully I will be smart enough to get it installed and working before Trevor comes up for Thanksgiving.

We did have fun panther. I think it's almost more fun than shooting yourself. I did shoot it a little bit to make sure the sights were adjusted right. The trigger is so bad, my groups didn't look much better than Trevor's. I'm anxious to see how he does with the new trigger.

Thanks for posting Trevor's range report. I'm sure we all are happy for you taking your Grandson under your wing to teach him how to be responsible and good at shooting sports. I feel like I'm with you and Trevor at the range rooting for him to have targets to make us all proud. He did great and I hope the trigger job works out. Thanks again!

Thanks! It was fun working with him. I hope I can get the new trigger in without losing any parts or messing anything up. These things are more complicated then you might think.
