Only thing that I've found that really works is dig a ditch about a foot deep around the perimeter and bury tin or wire that they can't get through.

We have alot of moles at the old place. The best thing we found was a neighbor who had a family of cats. The kittens were great at catching moles. Unfortunately, they grew up and didn't seem as interested in them anymore.
What people do here is treat their yards for grubs. Malathion or Sevin are good products to kill the grubs. Moles eat grubs, get rid of the grubs and the moles will look for their meals in someone else's yard.

Hi All,
thanks for your input, panther, calvin and kansas. digging a trench and shooting is out but kill the grubs, i will look into that. Never heard of that, it sounds good. Mind you i did think sit there with cigar and lite tnt when mounds appeared and stick it down and bang FIRE IN THE HOLD

Many years ago, a neighbors wife (name withheld to protect the guilty) decided she would like to have a few prairie dogs in her yard. Needless to say, it only took a few years for the little devils to multiply & move to greener pastures. One of them belonged to me. I tried poison peanuts, traps & anhydrous ammonia down the holes. All of those things worked........a little. The best thing was me & some friends with AR 15's, .22-250 & .243 rifles. This prairie dog hunting was great fun! I finally ended up plowing the pasture & planting it to wheat for the rest of the time I owned the place. My Dad's cousin owns it now & plant's corn there. The prairie dogs are gone.
I guess the moral of the story chris, is plow up your yard & plant a crop. I don't know what to plant over there across the big pond though. Maybe you could grow some tea?

the caravan garden is mostly grass and weeds(low cut) but it is on peat,
crops do grow and some sort of crop that could grow on peat could be the answer. However i am not a very good gardener, i can cut the lawn etc, growing plants is not one of my strong points, so i will look at this option, a good idea.

I tried poison grain in their runs. The Grain was Milo, and I had a garden full of Milo. They didn't eat it, and it all came up and grew until I cut it.
