Thumbs down Great Grandmom jailed in Fl. for CBD oil...

While visiting Disney World, a 69-year-old woman was arrested, put in jail for 12 hours then released on a $2,000 bond.

At a checkpoint outside of the Magic Kingdom park, a deputy searched her purse and found CBD oil, which is illegal in Florida unless its carrier has a prescription. The North Carolina resident, was carrying a note from a medical professional stating the CBD oil is used for her arthritis, but that wasn't enough.

Her story raised questions about why the CBD oil business is growing in the state if it is still technically illegal. Despite the fact that it's sold on store shelves across the state, CBD oil is still technically illegal in the state of Florida (unless the user has a prescription). A Florida attorney said, "a little drop of CBD oil is a felony. Meanwhile, you can have up to 19.9 grams of leaf--marijuana, and it?s a first-degree misdemeanor."

Jimmy Buffet launched his "Coral Reefer" cannabis brand at an Orlando location April 19th. They sell leaf marijuana and CBD oil.

The Orange County Sheriff?s Office said that their deputy was just following the law.

They should have left that "dangerous felon" in jail with no bond.

They sell that crap everywhere around here; American Shaman, Gas & Shop, Discount Cigarette shops, etc. It's supposed to cure everything from warts to cancer. I think it is the modern-day revival of the old "snake oil" medicine that used to be peddled in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

Question

I agree but everyone who uses it swears by it. I have a friend who makes gummy bears with it and she said it takes away her chronic back pain after the shots didn't work and two surgery's didn't fix it The THC is what gets you a buzz, is removed. I would try it but if I ever were to use my weapon I can see the prosecution telling the jury I was high on CBD oil. Defense would have it overruled but once the jury hears it you cannot take it back. I wouldn't touch it until they get the law clearly defined and manufacturing standards are in place.

You can use CBD oil products, and they can't tell because it contains no THC. The CBD oil does not get you high period, and it's much better than using pain killers that get you hooked.

It would be a great crop for our farmers, it would no doubt be taxed, we wouldn't have to worry about smugglers from Mexico and it would free up jail space if they just made it legal nationwide. I can't see any down side.

Didn't one of the states that legalized MJ and started taxing the heck out of it discover that sales went down because illegal (untaxed) was cheaper?

The states that have legalized pot, have a cash crop on the taxes, they also have a great cash crop of the non TCH, CBD oils and other products made from it. Just don't let the US pharmaceutical companies get a hold of it... they'll really drive the prices up, simply because they'll have to put some kind of non existent research into it.

I still think its benefits are more imagined than real, i.e., snake oil. I really don't care if folks want to waste their money on it though.

I still am on your side rman but the overwhelming response from people in favor doesn't agree with us. I hope it isn't "snake oil," but it sure sounds to good to be true. I want to try it but hold off for liability reasons and it sounds too good to be true, "snake oil?"
