Default Ways to cut traveling costs !

I get better mileage by driving 55 mph than 65. Stop the motor if you are going to set for a few minutes without moving. Don't haul around extra weight if you don't need it. Extra weight costs. Play the stop lights where you don't have to stop if possible. Avoid roads and streets with a lot of stops on them if possible. This is just a few. and I'm sure you can think of a lot more.

I think the only way to get the most out of your money is to have a 5 speed manual transmission. I have 72,000 miles on this set of tires and still have of plenty of lining on my brakes. I drive a Silverado, and I don't get any speeding tickets. I think this is the secret to good milage, SLOW DOWN.

I found the best way is not to go anywhere.

I car pool with my brother. Better to use one car than two.

I don't understand why there isn't more carpooling in my area. Guess everyone has got used to driving themselves.

That is usually good advice, but I suggest also to check out reviews on your vehicle. My Dodge Neon gets better mileage at higher speeds. (interstate) A Pastor friend of mine had a Neon of the same year, but with a 5 speed transmission, my city mileage was better than his Highway. Part of the reason was is that he was short shifting the tranny and lugging the engine. Know your car.
I can't explain why mine does so well but I'm glad it does.

I try to consolidate errands. I make do with what's on hand till I really need to go to the store.

I figure up if it's worth the cost of driving the car, the effort and stress, and the time, to go somewhere. Sunday drives have become a thing of the past. The amount is probably higher now, but I still figure it costs me 50 cents per mile to drive the car. Keeping that in mind curtails impulse trips.

Trips to look after the folks are combined with going to the hardware store, or the grocer, etc.

Business errands are run at non-commuter times, when possible.

Changed my P. O. Box to the closest post office.

I just bought an older Honda motorcycle. It used to cost me 40 bucks a week to drive my Yukon to work. Its nice to drive all week, fill up with gas, go in and pay with a 10 and get change back. With the drop in gas prices it only cost me $6.75 last week.

I carpool every day with my wife. Am considering hitchhiking.

I've seen folks using golf carts to get around on the side streets in small some towns.

I was in southern Illinois for a few days. Some are still using a horse and wagon.

In Europe, I took the street care almost everywhere.
