Default Ipsc

Has anyone tried shooting this? Our local outdoor range has IDPA & IPSC matches regularly during the summer. Last week I ran into the guy who runs the IPSC matches there. He took Tristan and I aside and gave us a crash course in shooting this competition and gave us the official IPSC safety orientation. It looks like it would be a lot of fun. Now I don't have any silly ideas about becoming the local champion or anything, but I think we will give it a try soon and see how it goes.

You and Tristan will like shooting that stuff rman. Go slowly at first. Do a walk through to learn the target placement and how you need to approach each one. Use your gun safety knowledge and shot placement. Before long you will end up with some pretty decent scores.
Good luck and have fun.

I never shot one. But would love to try it. I have to look into it a bit more. There are some hoops you have to go through to get in with the clubs that run this type of match around here.

One of things I love about the club I belong to is the members. It seems almost everyone is friendly and goes out of their way to be helpful. The young guy who is the rangemaster of IPSEC spent about 3 hours with us. There was really nothing in it for him, but it was a great experience for us. The members here are what you would hope a gun club would be. I couldn't tell you how many different guns I've got to shoot and of course I always share mine. The facilities are not nearly as nice as some other ranges I've seen, but believe me, the folks who go there make it all worth while.

We practiced IPSC yesterday with the rangemaster and another friend who is a special forces survivor of an IED in Iraq. I am officially humiliated! These guys are smooth, quick, accurate and make it took easy. I look like a monkey trying to mate with a football. Tristan is doing pretty well - he is learning the right way and doesn't have to unlearn a bunch of bad habits like me.
