The cost
When the state of Oregon says, there is no money for helping Veterans or the homeless... think of this. They Draw it out ... draw it out ... like everything is okay ... no hurry to do what should have been done 10 years ago! IDFG ... get off your butts ... and equipt a couple of helicopters with FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared Radar) systems ... and get the count much, much quicker.
Oregon Wolf Education July 29, 2019 Initial setup cost: $64,000 material + $240,000 labor = $304,000 Paid for by sportsmen and women. Monitoring and maintenance costs not included. All of this to watch what we already know: Idaho is infested with wolves. These estimates are minimums. 800 trail cams to monitor "wolf abundance". Equipment cost: Trail cam $50 + tree mount $15 + SD card $10+ 8 AAA batteries $5 = $80 $80 x 800 = $64,000 in materials Cost of installation : 2 hr travel + 1hr install = 3 hrs 800 x 3 = 2,400 hrs IDFW cost of employee time $100/hr (remuneration + benefits+payroll taxes+pension+overhead) 2,400hrs x $100/hr = $240,000

Well, you really don't understand. Wolves are cute, cuddly, in Disney films and are an endangered population. Veterans and homeless are none of these. The homeless population doesn't look like it will decrease.
Not that we aren't upset about vets and the homeless, but wolves.... |

While Oregon's current wolf management plan does not permit hunting or trapping seasons, wolves can be killed if seen predating on livestock. In recent years ranchers have pushed their political clout and wolves have been killed in violation of both the Oregon wolf plan and the endangered species act.
So they spend $608,000. on a stinkin' study. Save that money and have a wolf hunting season. Gain income from permits and if they're plenty the hunter will be back for more hunting. When they become few and hard to find the hunters will not buy permits. |
