Default Who loves Bowhunting

As the topic comes up every season, the question raises.... Xbows or Bows (traditional or compounds) what is your choice.

I personally use both recurve and compound bows.

I started out with recurves, but ended up with compounds. I still like a recurve better because of their simplicity and light weight. Unfortunately I shot much better with a compound. I shot my first bow-killed deer with a short little Browning recurve. The last half dozen or so were killed with a compound bow.

Yep after not shooting bows for the last five years, and now getting back on the practicing... When I had stopped I was shooting recurves all the time, and my last bow kill in 2010 was with a recurve at 5 yards.

But as time has passed, and the lack of practice as well.... the recurves I recently picked up are shot less and less. I begun to shoot my old Mathews Drenalin that I had given to my son, I then put a Diamond Edge SB-1 on layaway that weighs half the weight so I can shoot with him now when he wants to join me.

I practice now everyday, and recently added the new E-Z-V Sight that is pin less as those pins are fuzzy for my eyes anyway. It is amazing the results from just using a V to look through and hit exactly where you want, no range finder to use either.

This is from last night practicing at 20 yards, as my front yard does not offer much more corner to corner.

Nice going there Robin Hood!
I bow hunted for several years when I was younger. Gave it up because of the time it takes. Around here if I want some deer meat I can go out with a rifle and usually come back with a deer the same day.

But during bowhunting season, we can't use a rifle... the bow allows me to head off in Sept 2nd instead of late October 21st.
