My new Dog!
I couldn't decide where to put this, so since I'm more of a Camper, than Hunter, I'll put it here. You guys that spend all your money on Guns, haven't got anything one me. I've been wanting a Full Blood Mountain Cur like Old Yeller. I have looked on the Internet for about a year, and finally found one of the Big type like old yeller. This one is a brindle color but I don't care about the color. He's Registered, and 12 weeks old. I have to Drive 166 miles one way to get him. My two dogs I now have are well trained and behaved, and I'll let them help me train the new one. My little half mountain cur killed a nearly grown Coon, a couple of weeks ago. When I get a full blood trained to go with the two I already have, the Coyotes will stay away then, along with any other varmints, two or four legged. I think the two that I have now, has kept my house from being burglarized, when no one is at home. Sharon and I are going after it tomorrow.

Good luck with the pup Calvin. We'll expect to see pics when you get him.

Good for you Calvin. (Just don't run off all the coyotes - Kansas and I might want to thin the herd a little! )

Brought the Pup home Saturday. The man I got him from, said he wasn't broke to do anything. I asked about a collar, and he said he had never had one on. I had a pet carrier that I put him in to bring him home. He got motion sickness and when I got home, I put a collar, and leash on him while I washed out his carrier and the back of the truck. I led him around in the yard some, then we loaded him in the carrier and went to the Ranch. Sharon and I sat in the shade and read. I tied him to my chair. After about an hour, I told Sharon I think I'll turn him loose. I could tell he had already accepted Sharon and I. We let him run loose, and he would come to us when we called him, because the other dogs do. We left him in a pen at night where the Coyotes couldn't get to him. Sunday morning, I told Sharon we would leave the pet carrier in his pen for a bed, and we chained him in the truck like the other dogs. He is doing great and learning fast. Yesterday afternoon we were setting in the shade reading at the Ranch. He laid down by our chairs and went to sleep. My other part mountain cur, went out in the weeds, and was walking around. He woke up, and didn't recognize her. The hair turned up, and he growled and showed his teeth, and went after her. Before he got to her, he recognized her. He is just 3 1/2 months old, so I think he will make the kind of dog I want.
