Here we go. I took a Springfield Armory 1911 (the one I had to have the front sight fixed on), and my Colt Commander, both 45 ACP. I also took a Glock G20, 10MM to test some reloads. The Rifle is a Marlin 336 in 30-30, which was testing some reloads also. I mainly shot the 45's in move/shoot/reload drills. Distances were 5, 7, and 15 yards.
I probably shot 150 rounds of 230gn cast on top of WW 231 and 200gm cast on top of WW 231 thru each of the 45's, and there were no hick ups. I did have 2 mags that the followers rode past the slide stop on both the SA and the Colt. I will replace the followers and try them again. If that don't work, out they go. I shot 15 rounds thru the G20. The reloads, 180gn Hornady JHP on top of HP-38, ran great and the accuracy was good but wasn't up to the full potential of the 10MM. The trigger dingus (safety)was sure painful. If I shoot it much more I will have to address that little problem. I shot 20 rounds of Speer 130gn SP on top of IMR 30-30 thru the Marlin . It shot high 4 inches high at 50 yards, and accuracy wasn't any thing to right home about. 3 shot groups averaged about 5 inches. Back to the drawing board on that one. All in all, the 45's shot as I would have expected, and I really enjoyed my first trip to the range for the year. |

Took the G20 trigger out this morning a smoothed up the "dingus" quite a bit. It should be good to go. Now I have to load up some more 10MM to test.

Now that you have a smoothed "dingus", we will expect a range report soon.

I loaded up another mag full of 10MM test loads. I increased the powder charge to near max for a 180gn bullet. That should tell me if the dingus is acceptable or not. Hopefully I can get to the range yet this week but the weather's not looking very promising.

Know what you mean. Our weather guy says rain and maybe even a little snow Friday.
