I am working through the same kinda problems you had with the Lee Auto Drum.
I disconnected the lever also. |

Unlike me, you probably know how to read instructions. Just make sure you remove that little plastic thing that clips on the side and put the screw in the back hole, not the front one. That hole doesn't have threads, so the screw never tightens down completely, but it does stay put.

I loaded up some 44mag with 296 & it stayed within a 1/10 of a grain. Problem might be I used the same crimp that I use for Unique & 2400. I have read that you are suppose to use a heavy crimp for 296. Now I am reluctant to shoot them. Any comments appreciated. |

Went to the Police Range which is closer than the gun club but no benches for pistol.
Shot the 296 loads at 15 yds & got 3in groups with the 296 loads & no malfunctions. Pretty good for me. Sure got a lot flash & big bang. Time for a dew & brew. |

Good deal dowop! Did you shoot the reloads in the 629 or the Tracker? Yep, that 296 makes a good flame thrower. Thanks for getting back to us.

Shot both the 629 & the Tracker.
Wearing padded gloves the 629 with wood grips was not to bad recoil wise. The Tracker really surprised me cause it was not bad at all. Thinking the grips & porting had a lot to do with it. Would not want to make a steady diet of it though. |
