Ordered Buffalo Bore 45 ACP +P Outdoor Ammo
Well I broke down and ordered a box of 50 in the 255 gr variety... I would need to change my full length guide rod, recoil spring and buffer to use the .45 Super but at least for now, I'm up to 45 Colt standard load in a 255 gr load.
Have I ever needed to use a handgun or pistol against a large bear, nope but I know those who have, and one large sow bit the dust from 9 rounds of .45 ACP 230gr ball ammo from a Glock 21.

Heck, JB. All you really need to take care of a bear is a big, sharp knife.
