Default Kids at the range

My brother and I took my niece and nephew to the range today. We gave my niece her pink 10/22 yesterday. My brother painted it and the Simmons scope a pearlized pink. Makes the black on it stand out. No picture as of yet, sorry. My nephew shot my brothers 10/22. And I shot my new to me Charles Daly Hi Power.

My nieces targets from a rest at 25 yards.

My nephews targets from off hand at 25 yards.

We had a great time.

I shot my Charles Daly Hi Power at ten and twentyfive yards. Only one failure to eject in over fifty rounds. I do not believe it was the gun. Maybe a weak round as the slide never made it back to the rear all the way.

And a lousy scan of the gun.

And the gun my nephew used.

Reads to me like you were the biggest kid there. You had double the fun, shooting your new CD and the fun of watching your niece and nephew. I'd say you had a great day. Thanks for your post.
Tony

Hey Bozack sounds like a good time was had by all. I like to see or hear about the next generation of shooters on the range. Looks like they have had good teachers. Keep up the good work.

My sister has four kids. These are the two interested in shooting more than the other two. My brother was a small arms instructor in the Navy. He was actually one of the only techs to teach SEALs. By thier request. He has an uncanny knack for teaching shooting. And yes Tony, we love to teach kids to shoot. It is very fun and rewarding.

Sounds like fun Bozack and a great way to spend the day. It's really important to keep kid's interest in guns. Thanks for doing your part! One of these days all us old codgers aren't going to be around and these kids are going to have to carry on for us.

That is one thing that I wonder about. When I am gone, who will take my guns and enjoy them as I do? I will have to see how my nephews turn out as men. I would like to pass them on but have no kids of my own.

Sounds like a plan Bozack! I've been working with one of my grandsons quite a bit. Right now he is only 10. He has a lot of natural ability - he does really well with my CO2 pellet pistol and pump up air rifle. His only problem is that he watches too much tv and thinks that shooting fast is more fun than hitting anything. When he takes his time, he does really well for a beginner. I'd like to get him into .22s, but I have to go cautiously. His dad shoots a little, but isn't very good at it. I don't want to step on any toes or cause any hard feelings.
