Another first
I headed out to the range this past Wednesday for a little 1911 therapy. On the last mag, the slide stop tab that catches the mag follower to lock the slide open, broke off on the Colt Officers Model. In close to 60 years of shooting 1911's, this is the very first time I have ever experienced a slide stop failure. I kinds got caught with my pants down and didn't have a new one in the parts bin. Brownells is sending me a new one.

That's pretty unusual. I spent most of my life shooting a 1911 and never had one fail. I've heard people say the plunger tube can come unstaked also, but I haven't experienced it. The only problem I've had is with cheap aftermarket magazines.
