Ruger SR1911 CMD 9mm (Part II)
I got to take this Commander to the range again today. I swapped the rubber grips for a set of Goncalo Alves grips since the last range trip. I think it looks better, but the truth is the black rubber ones were probably better. At least they provided a firmer grip. No problem with 9mm, but it might be on a .45.
I shot another 50 rounds through it today. This time I shot factory Remington 115 gr. FMJ ammo. (Also shot 50 rounds thru another 9mm, but that's for a later time.) As expected, the gun functioned flawlessly. The trigger is nice, but it's a 1911 - what else would you expect? I shot one 50 round group at 7 yards. I fired these rounds as fast as I could recover from recoil and get back on target. Aside from one boo boo, the group turned out pretty good. I guess old habits are hard to change. I can shoot polymer guns as accurately, but not as fast and still be accurate. I guess you can tell I'm pretty fond of this little Ruger.
