Default The blind leading the blind

My 10-year old Grandson was up for the weekend. He decided he wanted to go fishing and brought an ultra light spinning outfit with him. I haven't fished since I moved to my new place in 2000. I've never been a very good fisherman, but we decided to give it a try. Since I had no clue where to go, we went to the fishing dock at the marina near my house. He decided he wanted to catch a catfish so we bought some night crawlers and I re-rigged his tackle so he could fish on the bottom. Turns out he had never used the spinning outfit before and didn't have a clue how to cast it. I showed him how and he was a quick study. He did really well after that. Well, we didn't catch any catfish. He decided he wanted a bobber on his line and tried that for a while. He got lots of good bites, but just couldn't snag a fish. (Actually, I think it was a snapping turtle from the way it was biting.) He could steal a nightcrawler faster than you could try to set the hook! I finally told him we better head for the house or his Grandma would start to worry about us. He was sitting on the edge of the dock dangling his hook just below his feet and swishing it back and forth. Lo and behold, he caught a little sun perch! He was as proud of it as if he had caught a 10 pound bass. It turned out to be a fun day.

Glad you had a fun day Rman. That is what Grandkids are for.
