Shot some of these 270-gr JSP loads today.... Let's just say, they're bear loads, and not for range practice....
It felt like a big handful, but are controllable. You just know it's felt with authority. Heavy weight hitters for sure.

Yup! You're talking to a guy who qualified and carried a 4" Model 29 for awhile. (My brothers on the range hated me and their scores went down.) Our department went through a phase that allowed you to carry anything you could qualify with as long as it was .38 Special caliber or larger. That only lasted a couple of years. It wasn't a very practical duty gun, but it was cool while it lasted. (A short version of Dirty Harry's legendary weapon.) I replaced it with a 1911 in .45 Auto.
