Default How they did things

This site was wonderful for me. I'm going to burn the information on a disc and hopefully be able to generate enough solar power to run my laptop so it will be available. That's only good for 10-12 years and they tell me the discs start degrading. Only the Ancient cultures could store information for the ages.

All of these things were done before anyone figured out they could make a commercial tool and market it to do a job.

So, caneman. Your'e telling me that people used to use their minds & hands to make useful items instead of just running to the giant discount store & buying what they need?

It's too bad we have become so un-imaginative & lazy.

People used to know where Eggs, Milk, Butter, Hamburger, Sausage, Vegetables, and ETC. came from. Ask the Kids now and see how many know. If wally-world wasn't there, they wouldn't know what to do.

Well Calvin guys like you and I, rman and a few of the other "old farts" on the board still know. It really concerns me what the younger generation will do when the collapse comes.

I thought about Chortdraw when I was looking at C:\Documents and Settings\Compac1\Desktop\Handy Farm Devices when I was lloking at his carvings. The shaving / carving horse was what immediately came to mind. Granted, it came to mind to me, a person with zero talent for that kind of thing or the knowledge of what might be genuinely helpful.

There are a ton of mechanical advantage aids shown though for folks with limited funds.
