I've heard that some people have been catchin' crappie out at the State Lake. I don't usually go after those, though. The bass should be waking up
& needing some breakfast before too long.

I kind of think bass are like channel cat - the bigs ones are fun to catch, but the smaller ones just taste better. Good thing, because I rarely catch the big ones.

I'm a true sportsman. I only keep a couple of fish and never keep the big ones.

I think that translates to I don't catch many and none of the ones I catch are big.

Fishing report from a coworker last week was that the crappies on the Chickahominy were plentiful and they were throwing back 10 inchers and keeping the big ones.

I rarely keep a fish that I caught. I just throw them back & catch em' again later. (if i'm lucky) I have a 9lb Large Mouth on the wall. I didn't catch it, my Grandad did. I caught a 8 1/2 pound er & brought it by for Grandpa to see it before I took it to the Taxidermist. Grandpa said "If you can't do better than 9lbs, throw it back". CRAP!

You're right about throwing them back. The fun is in the catching - NOT the cleaning. (A nice mess of fresh caught fish don't sound too bad though!)
