Default Air soft, full auto guns?

While at a gift shop in Branson I saw a pretty big display of air soft guns. The young man who was supposed to be running the counter was out the back door with a buddy shooting a full auto air soft replica of an AR. A couple other kids came in and went out there. I heard him say they were going to bust a couple light bulbs.
Anyone ever play with these things? Do they run on the CO2 cartridges like some pellet guns, or something else? Prices on them seemed to be in the $199-299 range. A little pricey for a toy gun. Still, it looked like fun.

Airsoft guns work off spring pistons. My brother brought back a few from Korea. The auto ones use batteries to cycle the action. I do not believe they use CO2 at all.

Thanks. I would have asked the kid working the counter, but he was too busy impressing his friends shooting at things by the dumpster out the backdoor. "Only in Missouri--"!

My grandson has a "full auto" airsoft M16. Like Bozack said, it has rechargeable batteries that work the action. It is fun, works pretty well, but leaves a little to be desired in the accuracy department. I haven't shot an airsoft gun yet that was very accurate, but I guess some of the ones that cost as much as real guns are.

The lack of accuracy can be attributed to the ammo it shoots. The round plastic pellets are not what can be described as well balanced. There are little air pockets in them that makes them unbalanced.

Yup and the fact that they are "smooth bores" doesn't help either.

I always knew all that hot air in Kansas couldn't be too healthy. Now we know what it causes.

I seen one somewhere on-line for like $20. It was a spring BB auto with a 60 round mag. I know very little about pellet type guns but only 225 FPS so it couldn't be too good. For $20. it could be a little fun.
