Default 1911 Trigger

I have a S&W 1911 SC Series E. It is a scandium-framed commander-sized .45 that has a bobtailed grip frame. I carry it more than any other gun. My only problem with it is the long trigger. I can shoot it pretty well, but should shoot it better after installing the short trigger. It's not a small job. Just about everything in the frame has to be removed: grips, mainspring housing, grip safety, both manual safety levers, magazine catch, hammer, sear, disconnector, mainspring and trigger. The one I ordered is a match trigger. It will have to be fitted and polished so it fits in the frame without excessive up & down play and so that it doesn't drag on the inside of the frame or the magazine. It will be a few days before I get it. When I do, it should keep me busy for awhile. I did this on an old beater ATI Commander-sized pistol, but it was easier. I bought a drop-in trigger that didn't require fitting. When I get it, I will continue this story with some photos.

Fitting a 1911 trigger is more time consuming than any thing. Take your time and it will turn out great.

Keep us posted on your progress.

I'm afraid it's still in the package Teddy. I kind of forgot about the whole deal.

I do that to rman. I hate it when that happens.

Since my grandson died, I have had a hard time getting motivated to work on guns, reload ammo and even shooting. Part of it is laziness and the other part is memories of the past. I need to get started again or get rid of some of this stuff.
