Default Really good eatin lately

Years ago I asked my wife to put some Barley in meatloaf as part of a filler (Can't remember why). We liked it and since she's cooked other dishes. Today we had a thick Barley soup. It had a little shredded carrots, Chopped mushrooms and a very small amount of shredded ham. Dang that was good. It makes me wonder why the American diet has gotten away from Barley.

The doctor asked my wife the other day if she could get me to eat cabbage. Wifey said yes I like cabbage. She said great, feed him cabbage at least once a week to help his diabetes.

All in all it's a good week for eating.

You mean just regular, everyday out of the field barley caneman?
That would be a good idea. I'll bet that we could all do a better job of eating healthy.

I've never had any homemade, but do eat Campbell's Beef Barley soup now and then. It's pretty good stuff.

Yep, just plain ol' barley. Years ago I remember buying a couple of loaves of barley bread at a then local grocery so I'm sure barley flour must be available. Need to do an internet search for some recipes.

I don't know if yield was the reason wheat took over as the primary grain but something tipped the scales in Europe. Of course potatoes moved in to the picture too.
