Default Cash for clunkers

Saw a newspaper article on the disposition of vehicles that were traded in under this program. One of the local salvage yard operators said he had about 175 of the trade-ins on his lot and was expecting several hundred more. I did not realize that these vehicles had to be salvaged and destroyed within 6 months of the trade-in. He said he had a 1995 Ford F150 pickup with only 40,000 miles and hated to have to part it out and crush it. I don't blame him - what a waste!

I'm afraid that some very good vehicles will be destroyed. I'll bet that not all of them make it to the crusher though!

I heard of a new program where one can trade in his or her overweight spouse. It will be called "Cash for Chunkers"

If you have a vehicle that needs a new motor, you might find a good replacement in one.

ROFLMAO! Kind of reminds me of a line from a joke I posted: Tell your wife she's pretty even if she looks like a dump truck!

I hope my wife never hears about that program. She'd need to get a pretty penny to pay off the house though.

The only person I ever heard say "clunkers" was a good program for them is my son. He works for Subaru.

Apparently, the big surge in production for them wasn't matched by other manufacturers. With suddenly more of their cars on the road many more people were exposed to their quality, economy and generally better than average vehicles and the surge continues though today.

I shudder when I think of the tax dollars spent on ir but I'm glad my son benefited and continues to benefit.
