Mine was a white 1966 GMC Pickup. A guy that had a Salvage between town and the ranch had it for sale. Said he bought it in Texas to tow a old car body back that he wanted to restore. It had a 454 Block, but run like nothing I'd ever had before. The harmonic balancer went out, and I had a mechanic fix it. He told me that the 454 balancer wouldn't work on it, but it was a 454 block. He ask me to find out what kind of motor was in it. The Salvage contacted the people in Texas where he got it, and they had rebuilt a Police Interceptor motor, and put in it. It had a 350 crank in it. You talk about torque, and getting it in a hurry, it had it. I had a hydraulic bale lift in the back, and it looked like an old beat up farm truck, but those that tangled with it, knew better. It had a reputation, that when I decided to sell it, I set my asking price too high, I thought, and sold it to the first person.

I know the feeling kansas, my dad was a city cop while I was growing up. If one of the city officers caught me doing something, they would'nt pull me over, they"d tell dad. Then there was heck to pay.

I went to College at a Business College in Fort Smith, Ar. The City Police had my # and watched me like a hawk watches chickens. I was watching the City Police, and a State Trooper got me, then they had my #. A bunch of us had the highway marked off in quarter mile marks, through the river bottoms, for drag racing. We'd post guards coming from both ways to warn us if cops were coming. I see the marks are still being used by kids at the same place. Times change, but some of the things kids do are still the same.
