Bowie knives
How many of you own a Bowie knife? I've been reading "The Oregon Trail" recently and was in Bass Pro Shops and they had a Blackie Collins designed Bowie knife on sale. It's made in China(of course), but it was affordable, so I got it.
It's a classic American knife design. I like the look and feel of it.

I have one. A cheap imitation of the Bowie anyway. I don't know the brand, but I have owned it for around 30 years I guess.
Jim Bowie is a hero of mine. I have visited the Alamo several times since I was a kid. There is a book called the "Iron Mistress" that is a kind of truth / fiction story of Bowie from when he was a young man untill he died fighting for Texas independance. I got it from my Grandmother when I was 10 or so & still have it. I would be glad to share the book with anyone of you who are interested in reading it. There is a story about Jim Bowie that is found in the book & in this link http://www.linecamp.com/museums/amer...wie_knife.html If the link won't open, just Google "Jim Bowie" or "Bowie knife".

I got one that was made by Shrade that I've had for many years. I carried and used it to cut hay string with back before the round bales, and then the round bales.

Bowie
I have one. Big wide Bowie blade, brass guard, full tang, wood scaled handle. Too big to carry around.
A few years ago, a buddy of mine gave me one of those "Rambo" knives that were made and sold shortly after the first movie. It's kind of a Bowie - way too big to carry around and the serrations on the spine spoil the look. Pete |
