Aching back
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We got a pickup load of horse manure from the local street department. We have a lot of Amish here so they have three rows piled up about 10 foot wide X 5 foot high X 180 foot long. The big pile we loaded from had been perking for a year and a half so it isn't blistering hot. Still pretty fragrant though. Also got the lumber to build 2 more 4X8 raised beds. I'll be getting two or three pickup loads of topsoil to mix with it and use in the raised beds and perimeter plantings around the house. I work very slow and don't get finished easily anymore so parts really won't be ready for planting till mid. May or even next spring. The fill dirt they used when we built three years ago will need "Improving" for years. Good to start getting dirty again this year. |

You've got the Spring Fever for sure. I put two truck loads of cow manure on my garden and tilled in in to start with. Now I'm building a compost pile next to the garden where I can haul the compost with a cart into the garden and scatter it. I'm starting compost for next year. Saving all my grass clippings, mixing cow manure with it, and anything I can find to compost. Got some Restaurants saving their coffee grounds for me.

You guys are more ambitious then me. So far, I've checked the garage to make sure the lawn mower, rack and shovel are still there. I found them, that was enough for now.

Not only that, but it sounds like there is a whole lot of being spread around down there in Okie land!
