Default No Livestock

Two trips to the county and they tell me I can't raise chickens, quail, pheasants etc. since I don't have two acres of land in my lakefront lot. If I wasn't lakefront I could do it without a problem. The only folks who could have two acres lakefront would be worth 30 times what I'm worth.

Big bummer.

Somehow I just can't visualize chickens as livestock Caneman. Doesn't seem fair does it? I live in the country, but I can't have any either. It seems to be against the developer's rules.

I just haven't realized how lucky I am, living where I do. Small, hillbilly places have advantages. It sure goes against my grain, people telling me what I can, and can't do. I put up with that on the job, until I retired. I don't want it the rest of my life.

Thats why I'd never live where there's a "home owners association".

Get a pig, put a collar on it, keep it clean, give it a doghouse with its name on it. "Family pet" when they ask. Play dumb if they come by when the smoker is out.

Going back and reading this I'm wondering if I could put a collar on a couple of hens and take them for walks on a leash? Have to think about that.

I think that I would try it. At least that would be good for some laughs!
