I kill all poisonous snakes I find. We were fishing a couple of weeks ago and My Dog got bit while walking along the weeds in the edge of the water, in the pond by a Water Moccasin. Yesterday we were fishing in the pond, and she was in the weeds in front of me. I caught a perch and threw it in the water and weeds under her, and it started splashing the water. You talk about a dog coming unglued. Though Sharon was going to whip me.

I guess I'm a lousy environmentalist. I hate snakes! I know - they eat rodents, etc., but I still hate them. I don't see many where I live, but I always carry a handgun with me when I'm in the woods. I can't help myself - I just got to shoot them.

Default Fun day Saturday!

Saturday, I went with Jake and his Family to Valley View Texas and we bought 5 Breeding age Registered Angus heifers. When we got home, we let everyone start picking what they wanted. Jake's 2yr old got first pick and she picked the oldest heifer. Jake needs to let his wife pick his cattle, because she picked the best one of the bunch second. Sharon picked a good one third, and Jake picked one for his 6 mo. Daughter. I took what was left, which was a half sister to the one that Jake's Wife picked. They were a good set of Heifers and Jake wound up without one, but he owns the Bull, and he said he could charge us a service fee for breeding to him. We had a fun day, but tiring, since we had to go over 400 miles getting them. I spent my Rat Hole money, so I won't be temped to buy more Guns.

I'm thinking some nice Angus steaks somewhere down the line might taste a lot better than a Ruger. (I know they would be a lot easter to chew.) Sounds like a good day!

When we moved in to our house in Oklahoma the first "House Guest" we had was Mr. Rattle Snake. It was during the Christmas Holiday period and the wife, Bonnie, had gone to the grocery. Dogs started raising heck and sniffing around the vent to the furnace closet. I grabbed a golf club (Before three back surgeries stopped that) and a flashlight and eased the door open. I saw about 3-4 inches of meat and half a dozen rattles going down the hole in the floor where the A/C drain tubes ran outside. Great incentive to get that hole closed up in short order.

There's not room enough in my house for me and a rattlesnake. One of us would have to exit promptly.

caneman, that rattler would have had the house to himself, and I would have been right in front of that cloud of dust

I can't speak from experience on the fried rattler, but as I've said before, a good snake is a dead snake. I'd rather eat one than have it eat me!
