Default Are your food prices still rising?

When gas was at $4/gal I kinda understood food prices going up, transportation costs and all that. Gas has been under $2/gal for awhile now, but I stopped at the store yesterday and saw a number of regular items are still climbing. Coffee was up on some major brands, name brand soda pop was up, some meats and breads. Basically, the generics seemed to be holding their own, but not the name brands. Is that happening everywhere, or are they just picking on us?
I also saw this at a gas station the other day. As I was paying for gas, I decided to pick up a 20oz. pop to drink on the way home. Dr. Pepper was about a quarter higher then Coke, so I got a Coke, only to realize when I got in the car that it was a 16oz. bottle. Sneaky!

Panther, I think a lot of it is greed and no compassion from the business world. A lot of companies have realized that we have become so dependent on the products that they have, we will pay whatever they want for them. Utility Companies, Oil, Medicine, Food, and the list goes on and on. Until we become more independent and self sufficient, where we can do without their products, we are at their mercy.

When I shop I carefully look at everything I buy and the size it is. They are always trying sneaky ways to get one past you these days.

I just paid more then $3 for a loaf of sourdough bread. The bakery sells 2 sizes, large and small. I bought the small size. In the past this small loaf was big enough to last my wife and I for a couple of days, not any more. The thing was 1/2 the size of what it used to be. That's what their doing, keeping the price the same and giving tou 1/2 a loaf. Guess I'll have to start baking my own sourdough again. Now where did I put that Kitchen Aid Mixer?

I've noticed a increase in a lot of Foods. Inflation and recession at the same time don't make sense to me.

These are crazy times we live in. And to imagine that alot of people are expecting one man to solve the worlds problem. Companies need to learn to cut back just like the average family does and lower the prices of their products and not shrink the size that they are. Government needs to do the same.

I don't think a large Pizza Hut pizza is as big as it used to be. Lately I've noticed that everything from candy bars to loaves of bread are smaller.

Strange isn't it? Food is higher, portions are smaller, but the bellys keep on growing in spite of it. What's up with that?
