I got one of the heavy 1"+ Stock Canes from a Farm Supply, and cut about 1 1/2" off the end of the Crook, and reshaped the end. Then I sanded it real smooth, and put a coat of Golden Oak Stain on it. Then started rubbing light coats of linseed oil on it. After it quit soaking up the linseed oil, I put Tong Oil on it. Then I put a couple of coats of extra heavy duty turtle wax on it for a extra hard finish. I think it is Beautiful, and really shows the grain in the wood.

I bought one of those 60" ($13.55) stock sorting canes from a local Amish supply store. My wife is getting some dark brown yard goods to make me a "Monks Robe". That will be my costume for passing out Halloween treats this year.

It might be a waste since we have just a few kids showing up since we moved out of town.

That might come in handy against those that just wants to do tricks instead of get treats.

You think like me. Halloween was so much fun as a kid. No worries about Gillette apples or LSD candy. Just plain old fun. Now if a tall one comes to the door you have to think he could reach in his bag, pull a weapon and home invade you. Just another sign of the times .

Comparing the times 50 years ago to now, does anyone besides me try to visualize what it will be like for our Grandkids, 50 years from now?

Trick or treat is not a big deal in the two places I've lived in Richmond. 3 kids came to the door last year.

The cane thing sounds interesting. "Walk softly...."

My favorite walking stick that doubles as a shooting stick for my pistols. It is made from a root from a small tree I found while in the woods one day.

Tried to send a larger picture but it didn't work. Anyway it works good for both jobs.
