Default Rat Trap

The neighbor lady about 150 yards from us was having trouble with the neighbor across the road from her not caring properly with their garbage. She put a live trap out and caught one adult and 3 small rats.

Then she tried a simple method. Five (5) gallon bucket half (1/2) full of water. Leaned a piece of 2X4 to the top as a ramp. Threw a handful of sunflower seeds on top of the water. Checked 2 days later and had nine (9) drowned rats in the bucket.

Hard to believe but simple really worked this time.

Sometimes the simplest methods provide the best solution.

Rat drowning sounds like a good hobby.

She stopped here last evening. The 3 in the livetrap were adults and the 9 in the water were much smaller.

That sounds like a good idea. Sharon got a fly Trap. We put it at the trailer doors, but it stunk so bad, she took it out, and hung it on a fence post. She caught about a gallon of flies, and they weren't bad at the trailer, after she put it up.

Along the same line, last week when my wife was at the farm store to buy birdseed she was talking to the Asst. Mgr. about mice. He said when they get a truckload of seed in, a dozen mice will run out of the truck doors when they open the truck.

By law, they can't use any kind of poison in the store so they use a combination of live traps and water to keep the population down in the store. He said if you check your birdseed bag and find a hole in it there has probably been a mouse there before you. It may even still be inside for you to take home with you.
